Edge hardware roadmap

Roadmap only

Edge hardware for the places software records miss.

Fresh Margin is export-first today and requires no hardware for a system scope. Edge devices are a future layer, designed for the operational events software records miss: receiving, packing, labeling, temperature, and handoff. This page is a roadmap thesis, not a product announcement.

No hardware is deployed. Fresh Margin does not currently sell, ship, or operate proprietary hardware. Nothing on this page is required for the initial review.

Why an edge layer

Some operational truth never makes it into an export.

Receiving discrepancies, packing errors, weight variance, cold-chain excursions, and handoff disputes happen in the physical world and rarely land in a clean record. An edge layer is designed to capture those events at the point they occur, so the records engine is not guessing later.

Edge modules (roadmap)

The Fresh Margin Edge Kit, as designed-toward.

Concepts only. None of these devices are deployed, sold, or operating today.

Fresh Margin Station

01

Tablet / kiosk for staff exception input at the workflow.

Scan Node

02

Barcode / QR intake for receiving, packing, and handoff.

Label Node

03

Labels prepared orders, subscription boxes, and vendor batches.

Scale Node

04

Verifies pack weights for bulk goods and prepared items.

Temp Node

05

Cold-chain, fridge, and freezer monitoring.

Packing Verification Node

06

Visual receiving / packing verification, not surveillance-first.

Handoff Pad

07

Pickup and delivery handoff confirmation.

Fulfillment Cell Kit

08

Staging, smart bins, and shelf verification for future cells.

Phased, honest

No hardware now. A deliberate path later.

  • Phase 1: No hardware

Exports, uploads, operator assumptions, system scope, demo console. This is today and it requires no devices.

    Live
  • Phase 2: Commodity kit

Off-the-shelf scanner, tablet, label printer, display, scale, temperature sensor. Fresh Margin provides the software workflows.

    Building toward
  • Phase 3: Fresh Margin Edge Kit

A branded kit for staff exception input, scan intake, labeling, weight checks, cold-chain, and handoff confirmation.

    Building toward
  • Phase 4: Fulfillment cell hardware

Staging racks, smart bins, cold-zone sensors, pickup-shelf verification, and prepared-food batch tracking for future mini-fulfillment environments.

    Building toward

Roadmap only. No owned or deployed facility network. No deployed proprietary hardware. The system scope and demo console require no devices. Edge hardware is pursued only if and when software workflow economics justify it.

Where it fits

Hardware is the last layer, not the first.

Next step

Start with software. The hardware can wait.

The defensible asset is the structured operational data created by repeated system scopes. Hardware only matters once that data is real. Start with system scope.

Roadmap only. No deployed hardware. Export-first today. AI-assisted, human-approved. No guaranteed savings.
